What wedding cake flavor is right for you?

There are a lot of decisions to be made whenever you plan a wedding. The venue, what you’re going to wear, how is your menu going to go? What signature drinks do you want? What will the colors be? Are you doing a first dance??

Honestly, the decision-making can feel overwhelming, and then, after all of that, you’re supposed to decide what cake you want to celebrate with during your reception?

It can feel impossible to make all these decisions, which is why I’ve simplified my cake menu for couples to make their choice easy, and allow them to find cakes that are exciting to them! Like a little cake menu for Colorado couples, that will surprise and delight, without overwhelming. Let’s take a peek at the flavors below, and who they are best for!

For Chocolate Lovers:

The Cheshire Cat
This is one of my most playful cakes: a decadent chocolate cake with fruit and ganache in between layers, all wrapped up in a beautiful triple berry buttercream. It’s a perfect balance between fruity and chocolatey, with no shortage of chocolate!

OR We’re All Mad Here
If you’re one that craves salty/sweet treats, We’re All Mad Here will surprise you in the best way! It’s a rich and dense butterscotch, pretzel, brownie cake packed with texture and yumminess, all wrapped up in a butterscotch buttercream. I don’t ever encourage counting calories, and you’re just going to want to chuck out the scale here - this cake deserves to be consumed unabashedly!

If you like your sweets on the lighter side:

Never fear, I’ve thought of you in my creations. If you want your sweets to be gentle, surprising, and with lots of nuance in flavor, I have a few flavors I think will resonate!

First up, Why is a Raven Like a Writing Desk? it’s a very summery, lemony, berry cake with just a hint of floral with lavender. Between the berry cake (you get to pick blackberries or raspberries!) are zingy layers of lemon curd and velvety vanilla bean buttercream. This cake just screams summer and delight!

If you want a cake that has a touch of fruit, but feels lighter than air, Croquet with Flamingos should be on your wedding dessert menu. It’s not often you meet a pink champagne cake with strawberry preserves, strawberry slices, and almond mascarpone filling. The entire cake is frosted in strawberry buttercream (which can be whatever color you want) and feels lighter than air. I know you’ll love it!

What if you want to get weird?

Don’t worry, I’ve got a cake for you (or a few!)

While it’s not necessarily “weird”, the Curiouser and Curiouser is not a traditional wedding cake flavor. But, who cares? We certainly don’t! If you love carrot cake, and spiced desserts or breads, this is the cake for you. She’s moist, nutty (it can be made without nuts, of course), and covered in maple butter cream. Literal perfection.

However, if you want to keep things classic with a somewhat traditional white cake, while having a much more delicious cake, might I introduce you to The White Rabbit - one of my favorite cakes to make, since the creme brulee cake with delicate graham cracker crust almost melts in your mouth.

All that said, if you’re not enjoying The Mad Hatter on your wedding day, what are you doing? This is the most popular cake on my menu, because it plays into nostalgia, fun, and deliciousness all in one! It’s a wedding cake complete with brown sugar cookie cake, with cookie dough filling (I can’t!!), and a browned butter frosting. My baker girlies know browned butter is the only way to make butter for your desserts.

What flavor will you be enjoying on your day??
